LLM SEO without the BS

Hey [FIRST NAME GOES HERE],

LLM SEO is all the hype right now.

Everyone’s asking for it…

But no one has any idea what it actually IS.

Let’s fix that.

The Numbers Don’t Lie

Here’s what’s happening while most marketers are still optimizing for Google like it’s 2019:

  • ChatGPT: 200M+ daily active users
  • Perplexity: 100M+ queries per month
  • Google’s AI Overviews: Showing for 15% of searches

That’s BILLIONS of queries bypassing traditional search results every single day.

If you’re not thinking about this, you’re already behind.

The Thing Everyone Gets Wrong About LLM SEO

Here’s the misconception I keep seeing:

People think LLM SEO is some magical new discipline that requires completely different tactics.

It’s not.

LLM SEO is still SEO… just with a twist.

The fundamentals remain the same:

  • Quality content matters
  • Authority signals count
  • Relevance is king
  • User intent drives everything

What’s changed? How these factors get evaluated.

Your Entire Digital Footprint Is Now Your SEO Strategy

Here’s the big shift:

LLMs don’t just crawl your website like traditional search engines.

They evaluate your ENTIRE online presence:

  • Brand mentions across all platforms
  • Social media sentiment and engagement
  • Review scores and customer feedback
  • Citations in other people’s content
  • Your overall digital reputation

This means that angry Reddit thread about your customer service? That’s now an SEO factor.

That glowing LinkedIn post from a customer? Also an SEO factor.

6 LLM SEO Strategies I’m Testing Right Now

Fair warning: Since this is all new territory, everything below is speculative.

Some of these strategies might age like milk, but based on how LLMs actually work, here’s what I’m seeing early success with:

Strategy #1: Create “Decision-Making” Content

LLMs love content that helps people make actual decisions.

Instead of generic “ultimate guides,” create:

  • “X vs Y: Which is better for [specific use case]” comparisons
  • Real user experiences and case studies with specific outcomes
  • Pricing breakdowns with context (“Here’s what you’ll actually pay…”)
  • Implementation guides that show step-by-step processes

Why this works: LLMs prioritize content that moves people from research to action.

Strategy #2: Build Contextual Authority

Forget spray-and-pray link building.

LLMs understand topic relationships now, so context matters more than raw domain authority.

If you’re in the email marketing space:

  • Get links from marketing blogs (not random high-DA sites)
  • Partner with SaaS review sites in your category
  • Get featured in industry round-up articles
  • Build relationships with complementary tools

The context around your backlink now matters more than the domain authority score.

Strategy #3: Monitor Your Digital Footprint Like You Track Backlinks

Every single mention of your brand online is now potentially an SEO signal.

Start tracking:

  • Reddit discussions about your product
  • Twitter/X complaints and praise
  • LinkedIn posts mentioning your company
  • YouTube comments on competitor videos
  • Forum mentions and Q&A sites

Strategy #4: Turn Customers Into Content Creators

LLMs scan user-generated content for authentic insights about products and services.

Instead of just begging for reviews, actively create opportunities for authentic user content:

  • Case study templates customers can easily fill out
  • User-generated content contests with real incentives
  • Customer story features on your blog and social media
  • Communities where users help each other (and mention your product naturally)

Authentic user content beats manufactured reviews every single time.

Strategy #5: Own Your Niche Positioning

Here’s something interesting: LLMs don’t pick universal “winners and losers.”

Instead, they categorize solutions by specific use cases and contexts.

This is your opportunity to own a specific position:

  • “The startup-friendly option”
  • “Best for creative agencies”
  • “Most secure solution for healthcare”
  • “Fastest implementation”
  • “Best value for small teams”

Don’t try to be everything to everyone. Pick your lane and dominate it.

Strategy #6: Become the Source, Not Just Another Opinion

LLMs heavily cite sources that provide unique, original insights.

Start producing:

  • Industry surveys and reports with original data
  • Research studies from your customer base
  • Trend analysis using your internal metrics
  • Behind-the-scenes data that only you have access to

Be the source that other people reference, not just another blog rehashing existing information.

The Reality Check

Let me be brutally honest:

We’re ALL experimenting right now.

Anyone claiming they’ve “cracked” LLM SEO and guaranteeing results is probably trying to sell you something.

The landscape literally changes every month as these AI models evolve and improve.

The best approach? Test, measure, adapt, repeat.

My Prediction for 2025

LLM SEO won’t replace traditional SEO.

It’ll complement it.

The brands that win will be those that:

  • Create genuinely helpful content (not SEO content)
  • Build real authority in their space
  • Focus on actual user value over rankings
  • Adapt quickly to changes

Same fundamentals. New distribution channels.

Bottom Line

Don’t panic about LLM SEO.

But don’t ignore it either.

Start experimenting now while your competitors are still figuring out what the hell it even means.

The early movers will have a massive advantage when the dust settles.

What’s your take on all this? Are you already thinking about LLMs in your SEO strategy? Hit reply and let me know!
